some giggles

burps

unnecessary words

to keep going

during conversation

better allowed to dissolve

 and then

afterwards

bored chatter

inconsequential

empties the glasses

if not a bottle or two

even when aware that

it has already been recorded

by Jerome*

on a boat

or at Christmas Eve

by ghosts now

and then

apparitions for reading

remembering

smiling

bringing some delight

before dinner

with 

a single setting on the table
