The auction
heard as less than a whisper
for the relic
trying to hear the bid
making up
its own stories
of glorious pasts
paths and rewards
again the auction closes
the relic left lone
on an end table
not a pedestal
not warded with a sticker
left with a shuffle
brouhaha days in
the steps footprinted in days
weeks, months and years
another unsold sign
another ache ached and almost forgotten
no procession
no pyre
packaging almost intact
although with surplous wear and tear
