ruled by 

power

and greed

and arts

and wars

infamy 

unspeakable

but writable

like or unlike today

recorded as they occurred

forgotten

or banned by decree

never to be texted for common schools 

and philosophers

who never knew 

unrelatable

narratives 

of knights of arabia

just phalanxes

or chariots

and camels and elephants

all falling

at mercy 

of historical and modern barbarians
