Government actions, national or otherwise, are evaluated only after they are made and the results of those actions become apparent in a new environment dependent on not only those actions but other actions of other players.
One has no chance of taking steps to correct political and social and economic and any other public mistakes of a government in a future which already exhibits the results of those mistakes and still contains the perpetrators and the sufferers, the victors and the victims in a changed landscape.
Empires and nations have populations who benefit from past mistakes and also populations who lose physically, emotionally and financially. Recovery would require the quick and sincere admissions of the perpetrators and the ability of their environment to apply, accept and support all changes, almost an impossibility in a country and world that has already changed in unforseen ways towards a new reality which is pregnant for other mistakes and will soon give birth to other culprits and victims. There will be brighter futures for those who can use newly discovered power and instruments for stronger lights or those whose skis are not covered by clouds, meteor dust and space junk.
