NO JOY FOR OLD MEN

 

LIFE FOR THE AGED

bless the octogenerian

who has got his own

children may have

grand children may show

spouse may hear

own choices

own views

own visions

of the old

left in a desert

to bide away

time left

sun for the bones

wind for the mind

not a country

or time

for the old

but

 timeless

for mankind

dust and sand 

the whirling dervishes

visible to the old

faceless

soulless

merciless

telling the value

of the carcas

to the scavengers

related 

and

unrelated

bone pickers

to be fed

to escape the sun

and the sand 

for a while

till they are ready to 

to be picked 

for their age

and 

utility

and 

placed in the desert

with tears

that are swallowed by the sun

but nonetheless

with a place 

in the desert

 of life

and

of memory
