the decision was personal

and rather immaterial 

the instruments 

were singular

there was envy

there was hope 

purposeless intention

and aspiration

much of each

it involved 

walking

and

simultaneous digging

and damage invisible

the threads qualified 

though

apprehensive

unstrung and high-strung

yet willing

and capable 

of carrying out 

the search

and 

the venture

and the scavenging

the tabula

originally rasa

became a store

an assemblage

possibly even a compendium

for those

who 

ordained themselves 

as sayers and givers

doling out wisdom

and justice

and mana

all from the tabula rasa
