make believe

systems

fantasy equipment 

to replace all

figures, 

pieces

domains

wood or stone

marble or plastic

visual

or imagined

in boxes

brain sized

once shared with 

visitors to earth

or vice versa

to be rediscovered

in new millenia

in digs

of time capsules

or

mummified brains

in clinical trials

or by children

Finite games

that we play

that we watch

that rule lives

also have no beginnings

or ends

that one notices

an unexpected trump

a winner

or queen

lost to an insignificant trump

from a forgotten

always lurking

around a corner

behind a door

in hands

the element of surprise

in fiction
